OPEN STUDIO is a local spatial design studio co-founded in 2016 by husband & wife team Lam Jun Nan & Jax Tan.
We are a boutique design practice integrating architecture, interior design, and custom furniture into coherent spatial environments. We believe thoughtful design arises from careful listening, sustained dialogue, and a deep understanding of context.
Each project is shaped through collaboration with clients and skilled makers, ensuring that aspiration is translated into spaces that are functional and enduring. Our approach is material led and detail driven, with particular attention to light, proportion, tactility, and the human-shaped environment.
Working across residential and commercial projects, we maintain consistent design intelligence from the scale of the building to the scale of the hand. Custom furniture is conceived as an extension of the spatial idea, reinforcing clarity, atmosphere, and cohesion.
Through continual learning and disciplined exploration, we aim to create spaces that feel generous, grounded, and quietly distinctive.
OPEN STUDIO’s Lam Jun Nan and Jax Tan both graduated with a Master of Architecture from National University of Singapore. Before setting up the firm, Jun Nan practiced at Aedas and Arcstudio + Urbanism while Jax practiced at Arcstudio and eventually obtained her architectural license while working with Park+Associates. The studio is based in Singapore but open to opportunities in the region.
