For new retail label Atlas Kind, true north is found in responsibly made clothes as a kind and compassionate worldview. In tune with the sustainable aspirations of Atlas Kind, Open Studio conceptualised a relational interior to educate and engage with new brand purveyors.
Aimed at building stable and foundational relationships for future engagement, the shop was designed as an educational classroom on responsible retail. A decidedly non-transactional space, the interior is a warm cosy room scattered with timber volumes concealing obvious retail functions like fitting rooms or cashier, and a large bulletin board for brand resource information.
Familiar timber balustrudes and old furniture from old residential homes were salvaged and refurbished with care, then integrated into the retail interior. For a contemporary touch to the upcycling approach, stainless steel in hairline finish was paired with deep timber as a composition of the Atlas Kind palette.
