SCOPE
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION

The design of a home grows from a concept in relation to usage, aesthetics and logic of materials; it also grows from the art of construction. The main idea of this project was simple – to create an uncluttered living environment with the absence of a dedicated storage room. The answer was an insertion of a storage wall that also acts as a separating element between the common and private spaces. Construction composition of a flushed surfaces was the key to the storage wall design.

The storage wall is a demarcation element between the common & private spaces.
The lateral opening systems allow compartments to be kept open while in use.
Functions supporting the inhabitant's daily lives are concealed as a flushed surface when not in use.
The colour scheme revolves around different shades of timbers and browns to exude warmth.
A hidden pantry placed adjacent to the dining area.
Small punctuation on the panel forms the handle.
The aesthetics of the handle design derives from the ergonomic logic.
Glass enclosure to the kitchen was similarly kept as a flushed surface.
The turning of the glass enclosure around the corner increases the perception of porosity.
The choice of tint to the glass draws relationship with the flushed timber surfaces.
The outcome was a uncluttered conversational living space.
